The 8-piece group Native Aliens Ensemble improvises with elements of Brazilian popular music, including rhythms such as Maracatu, Frevo and Catira. Band leader and saxophonist Renato Ferreira wrote compositions inspired by both European and Brazilian composers, from Louis Andriessen and Alban Berg to Hermeto Pascoal and Egberto Gismonti.
